About the Role
A position is available for a *Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Silvia Marino on a 5 year Brain Tumour Research funded Centre of Excellence award. The successful applicant will lead a multi-organisation collaborative project focused on leveraging exciting newly developed experimental tools, including novel CRISPR-dCas9 epigenetic screens applied to patient-derived tumour stem cells and matched iPSC-derived neural stem cells (Vinel et al BMC Biology 2025, Constantinou et al Cell Reports 2024 and Vinel et al. Nature Communications 2021) to develop new approaches for personalised prediction of drug responses in glioblastoma, a currently untreatable malignant tumour of the brain.
About You
We seek an ambitious and self-motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics or functional epigenomics. A track record of effective communication, teamwork and successful project management is essential.
About the Institute
The Blizard Institute was established in 2003 and is one of six Institutes within the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, QMUL. The Institute comprises approximately 350 staff based in four academic Centres and one Public Engagement Centre, and supports a combined total of c750 postgraduate research and taught students. The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London. It is a full time, fixed term appointment for 17 months, with an expected start date as soon as possible. The starting salary will be Grade 4, in the range of £37,472 - £45,622 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
*PhD candidates who are close to completion and have not yet received their PhD award, will be appointed on a salary of £37,472 - £38,082. On providing a copy of the formal award letter or award certificate, the salary will increase to £41,123.
