About us

This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of the Wellcome Discovery Award “Between Deception and Dissent: regulating unproven, disproven and misleading health-related claims” based in the Dickson Poon School of Law within King’s College London.

This 6-year Wellcome Discovery Award will critically explore how contemporary seek to control and regulate unproven, disproven, or misleading health-related claims.

The Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. 

About the role

The Project Manager will provide overall operational management for the project, and ensure resources are managed and monitored effectively. They will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the project.  The post holder will work closely with the Principal Investigator, Professor Emilie Cloatre, and Co-Investigators at partner institutions, to develop and evaluate project activities and will support the project team in delivering the project’s core objectives.

The role will require coordination across University Departments and with external UK and overseas partners. You will work with a variety of key stakeholders including academic collaborators, external funding partners and other university staff. Some collaborations are international, and you will need to develop strong relationships with project partners in the UK, Europe, Africa, and North America.

The focus of the role is on delivering the operational activities linked to the research objectives of each project, as well as helping to develop and sustain future research programmes. The role requires wide-ranging project co-ordination for the projects. You will work under the direction of Prof. Emilie Cloatre but will be required to work independently and will need to relate well to staff at all levels. You will be expected to advise senior academics and officers on a wide variety of matters relating to the different functions of the role. You will need to navigate governance issues and understand appropriate research funding arrangements.

This is a part-time role 60% FTE (21 hours per week) for 6 years commencing 1 May 2025 with a fixed end-date of 30 April 2031.

About you

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
  • Experience of administration or project management in an academic research environment or other large complex organization, from the start-up phase of a project.
  • Proven financial aptitude with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to produce clear and concise financial/research reports.
  • Excellent oral, written communication & presentation skills.
  • Experience in administering national/international meetings & providing support to international research groups.
  • Excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to use tact & discretion to build effective and cooperative working relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent IT skills, including good working knowledge of word processing (Word), spreadsheet (Excel), email and database software, & experience in using social media for digital communications.
  • Highly organized with the ability to work independently, prioritize work & produce consistent accurate, detailed work &  meet deadlines.

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of the field of interdisciplinary legal research, the health social science or humanities, global health or an allied area.
  • Previous experience of working in an international and/or interinstitutional research environment.
  • Experience of supporting applications for research funding.
  • Familiarity with relevant HR principles and policy.
  • French or Spanish language skills.
