Job Description
We are seeking a part-time PDRA to support a six-month project in design transitions and decarbonisation in the digital sector. Do you have experience in creative sustainability, design research, workshop facilitation, and/or the digital technologies? Join us at Bath School of Design for a role starting in April 2025.
About the Role
In this exciting role you will support creative workshops and public engagement on decarbonisation of the digital sector as part of the Arts and Humanities Research Council funded research project “Transition Templates AI & Digital: Pathways for Net Zero+”. You will help investigate the energy implications of AI & Digital and contribute to the decarbonisation agenda with the new Transition Template design method. The work will be primarily hybrid, but you will need to participate in at least three events at the Bath Spa University and the Somerset region. You will be working with Principal Investigator Dr Joanna Boehnert and the project team including project partners. You will be responsible for coordinating participatory research; co-developing resources; organising and facilitating workshops; and organising and delivering an engagement activity. You will be responsible for collaborations with partners, stakeholders, students, and volunteers. You will assist in collecting data, reporting, and drafting a journal article in collaboration with the project lead. We are open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
About You
You may be a design researcher with expertise in sustainability or come from an inter-disciplinary background with experiences in creative tech with background in digital technologies, and sustainability. You will be able to demonstrate a track record of workshop facilitation and/or collaborative research related to sustainable transitions and will have experience of working with partners and stakeholders. In addition, you will have experience and ideally expertise in climate change and decarbonisation in the digital sector. Flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage complex projects effectively are key, along with being a collaborative team player.
