The Opportunity:

You will join the Wellcome-funded research project, ‘Medicine without Doctors: Re-imagining Care and Voice through Play’, which examines the changing landscape of medical authority and care, to lead the work on methodological work package ‘Play’ focusing on how we can create a field of shared intellectual engagement across diverse disciplines and communities of practice through playful, design-based methods.

This post is fixed term for 66 months from July 2025 to December 2030.

Your skills and attributes for success:

  • A PhD or equivalent professional experience in a relevant social science or practice-based discipline (e.g. STS, Anthropology, Design) 
  • Experience of successfully conducting ethnographic research 
  • Demonstrable knowledge or experience of design, making, or creative methods for social research
  • Experience of working independently and collaboratively with others to deliver projects
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly, orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a compassionate and socially responsible manner
