The opportunity:
Applications are invited Postdoctoral Research Associate in the laboratory of Prof. Julie Welburn, funded by BBSRC for 8 months. The laboratory investigates fundamental mechanisms the role of mitotic microtubule motors in cell division in first instance. The project will involve using cell biology and biochemical approaches to 1) define how the mitotic motors are recruited to the central spindle and 2) how they will couple the central spindle to the plasma membrane at the intercellular bridge after furrow ingression.
We are now looking for an enthusiastic and talented researcher to join our team investigating the role of microtubule motors on regulating the central spindle and assembling the midbody so that cytokinesis- the last step of cell division can take place. You will play a major role in the design and conduct of the research project and be trained in the relevant techniques. You should have a PhD in a relevant subject area and will have experience in structural biology and biochemistry or/and imaging and image analysis. Training can also be offered. An outstanding academic track record is essential and at least one first author publication in a prominent journal is expected.
