This role offers the opportunity for hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home.

Summary of the role
The Studies in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy portfolio of programmes wishes to recruit a Lecturer (Academic Tutor) in Clinical Education & Research (Education and Scholarship) to support the delivery of the Doctorate in Clinical Practice (Research) & the British Psychoanalytic Council accredited clinical trainings as a Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist or a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist, the DPPClinPrac programme, along with the teaching out, MSc in Psychological Therapies and Clinical Training programmes.

The programmes provide clinical and research training with a strong commitment to facilitating access to high quality clinical, academic and research training by means of the programmes’ blended delivery. This means that students and staff can participate on the programme from across the UK and students internationally.

The post will include responsibility for the design, development and production of teaching and learning material to be delivered across a range of clinical training and research modules within the Professional Doctorate, Studies in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy clinical training and research areas. You will work with the Doctor of Clinical Practice Research, The Doctor of Psychodynamic and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Clinical Practice programme & the MSc in Psychological Therapies and Clinical Training programmes’ team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of research teaching programmes in accord with the Faculty’s education strategy and implementing the External Affairs strategy.

The successful applicant will be a BPC registrant or close to qualifying in the category of Psychoanalyst, Jungian Analyst or psychoanalytic Psychotherapist, who possesses sufficient breadth or depth of specialist and core knowledge in the discipline, demonstrated by a PhD or equivalent, in a relevant clinical profession to develop teaching programmes, and teach and support learning in this research, academic/clinical training area. They will have experience of research at Master’s level or the equivalent, as a minimum and be able to use a range of delivery techniques to inspire and engage students. They will participate in and develop external networks nationally and internationally, for example, to contribute to student recruitment, facilitate student clinical settings, facilitate outreach work, generate income, obtain consultancy projects, or build relationships for future activities.

The successful applicant will have evidence of excellence as a clinician, in teaching and scholarship ideally identified by peer review and will have made an impact at discipline programme level beyond their own teaching. The applicant will also have experience of research as applied in relation to psychoanalytic practice. You will also have knowledge and experience of teaching clinicians in a relevant field or discipline and in distance learning methods and in supporting distance students.
