About us:

The Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience’s (IoPPN) Education Support Team is looking for a Programme Officer to offer high-quality administrative support to taught programmes within the School of Academic Psychiatry, within the Assessments Team.

The Programme Officer will work as a member of the Assessments Team to ensure consistent management and delivery of taught assessment provision through essential support to academics and professionals services colleagues. The Programme Officer provides a professional, supportive, responsive, and personable service supporting processes across the student assessment lifecycle assessments, ensuring accurate and timely record management across multiple systems.

Comfortable with working relatively autonomously, this role will suit a motivated individual who has an excellent eye for detail and strengths in data management and Microsoft Excel.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as Programme Officer in a dynamic team within the IoPPN’s Education Support Team. The Assessments Team are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and confident administrator, who is committed to providing an excellent provision that supports the assessments administration lifecycle across a varied portfolio of postgraduate taught programmes, within the School of Academic Psychiatry. This is an ideal opportunity to begin or develop further your career in Higher Education administration.

The Programme Officer will interact with a wide range of academic and professional services staff from across the Faculty and the University, ensuring that our stakeholders benefit from our services in a seamless and effective manner. The role reports to the Programme Manager with supervision from the Senior Programme Officer, and will work on a range of tasks including but not limited to: setting up assessment submission areas; answering queries through a shared inbox; liaising with external examiners; supporting the scheduling and set-up of exams; and preparing student data ahead of, and servicing Assessment Sub Boards.

With support to develop a working knowledge of regulations and processes, the Programme Officer will have a keen eye for accuracy and detail. Applicants should have excellent IT skills, particularly adept in Microsoft Excel, and some experience of utilising virtual learning environments and/or student record systems would be advantageous. The position will be expected to support a varied and high-pace workload, demonstrating excellent organisation and flexibility, often across competing priorities in line with core university deadlines and requirements.

About you:

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to draft documents and correspondence
  2. Excellent organisation and time management skills
  3. Strong numeracy skills and ability to analyse complex numerical data
  4. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Microsoft Excel, and the ability to work on new systems
  5. Ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders in a professional and assured manner
  6. Methodical, detail oriented and flexible in approach to work, maintaining a high level of accuracy
  7. Proactive with the ability to work independently as well as delivering within a team

Desirable criteria

  1. Experience in the use of databases and student records systems (such as SITS)
  2. Experience of using virtual learning environments
  3. Experience of working in a customer facing environment
