Are you an experienced Web Systems Administrator? Do you know WordPress inside out? If so, Birkbeck, University of London, is seeking a Senior Web Systems Administrator to join us this Spring 2025. 

The Web Development Team is looking for a Senior Administrator to support the Web Development function within Information Services at Birkbeck, and, in particular, to work on organising and toughening the security posture of our public-facing web presences, with a focus on research-related microsties.

As Senior Web Systems Administrator your duties will be:

  • to evaluate and migrate existing WordPress and research-related web presences (implemented in other technologies) while meeting established security and resilience requirements, archiving or decommissioning sites, 
  • to work closely with other members of the Information Services team,
  • liaise with technical staff throughout the College, as appropriate.

To succeed as Senior Web Systems Administrator, you will need:

  • demonstrable experience of managing, administering and, for preference, migrating WordPress websites between environments,
  • a good grasp of web systems administration and information security best practice,
  • a clear, methodical approach to project management and documentation,
  • well-developed communication skills.

Salary and benefits:

£43,636 rising to £49,683 per annum. Grade 7 on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated London Weighting Allowance.

Contract:
