Annual Leave: 23 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: Coracle Online, Cambridge (main location), College Lane, Hatfield (occasional) 

Main duties and responsibilities

The Associate will support the research team by undertaking research and development to develop a new product or service, attending and leading project meetings as required.  You will handle data collection and analysis and contribute on the design and organisation of the project as well as work with academic team members on peer reviewed papers and presentations. You will be expected to disseminate the results and outputs of the project and ensure the collating and writing of final project are of a high standard. You will take an active part in the academic life of the School through participation in seminars and other similar events. 

Skills and experience required

You will be methodical, have good attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, as well as the ability to plan and manage your own activities effectively and meet deadlines under pressure. You will possess a strong work ethic, be self-motivated and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. It is essential that you are able to handle sensitive data with strict confidence. You will have demonstrable experience of working as part of a research team in a Higher Education Institution or in industry (e.g. final year project/industrial placement), as well as technical experience of AI and Machine Learning, and proficiency in computational programming languages, such as Python, C++ and Java. 

Knowledge of appropriate databases for the discipline, and the ability to conduct literature searches in the discipline, using appropriate electronic resources is essential for this role. You will have an interest in applying technology in different forms and demonstrable initiative and ability to learn new skills as required, supported by the ability to develop innovative and efficient solutions to defined problems.

This role requires you to be flexible and adaptable to workload and team requirements. You will have excellent interpersonal, spoken, written, and presentation skills in English and will demonstrate empathy, with the ability to build rapport with a range of stakeholders. 

Qualifications required

Educated with a minimum of an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or closely related subject.
