Annual Leave: 30 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield, Hertfordshire 

We are seeking to recruit a Head of Governance Services to provide expert leadership on all matters concerning the management, governance, and effective operation of services for the University’s central boards and committees. 

Main duties and responsibilities

The Head of Governance Services as head of the committee secretariat, will lead the Governance Services team to ensure the management and effective operation of services for the University’s central boards and committees, including services to the Boards of Directors of the subsidiary companies within the University of Hertfordshire Group. 

The postholder will ensure the maintenance of all related governance documentation and records, the provision of advice and the promotion and training of good practice in all aspects of committee work across the institution. The  Head of Governance Services must maintain a clear understanding of the whole spectrum of the work of the University and its wholly owned subsidiary companies, including funding, learning and teaching, research, staffing, and administration. 

Skills and experience required

You will have a proven track record of successfully managing committee administration. Ideally you should have experience of line management. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders. You will have a sound knowledge of good governance practice and relevant legislation. 

Qualifications required

Educated with a minimum of an undergraduate degree (or equivalent level 6 qualification), or proven experience.
