About the role
We are looking to appoint a Clinical Research and Operations Manager for a 12 month maternity cover to join the Specialised Translational Research Oxford Neuromuscular Group (STRONG), based in the John Radcliffe Hospital.
The successful candidate will be taking up a key leadership role in a rapidly growing neuromuscular research group with a portfolio of high-profile clinical trials and projects. You will have the responsibility for overseeing the operational activities of the research group and line managing administrative staff. You will also hold overall responsibility for delivery of the group’s clinical trials from set-up to closeout, ensuring quality in all areas of trial delivery and following both departmental and institutional processes and procedures.
The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology.
This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract as a 12-month maternity cover. The current return date of the substantive postholder is February 2026. We are allowing for a handover period prior to the family leave and after the return date.
About the department

We encourage staff to develop their skills by offering all staff ten paid days of professional development each year and have a policy where staff can apply to receive funding for further training.
In addition to the University of Oxford wellbeing resources, the Department of Paediatrics sponsors weekly exercise classes such as yoga and bootcamp sessions as well as a choir. For staff on work visas, we also offer financial assistance towards visa renewal fees. These activities are designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing among staff members.
