Christ Church is seeking to appoint a Library Assistant (Graduate Trainee) on a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract from late August 2025.
The role of the Library Assistant encompasses many facets of library work including front-line reader services, collection management and Special Collections. The Library Assistant will work regular shifts on the front-desk, working with both the University’s online library catalogue (SOLO) and the automated library management system (Alma). The successful applicant will demonstrate an interest in pursuing a career in Librarianship or in a related field, will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and have the ability to make swift decisions.
This post is an excellent opportunity to join a friendly college and gain experience working in a large Oxford college library. The role is intended to provide a time-limited period of training and development and for this reason carries with it no expectation of permanent employment at Christ Church. Applications are welcomed from graduates in any subject and from any institution.

Entry into employment with Christ Church and progression within employment will be determined only by personal merit and the application of criteria which are related to the duties of each particular post and the relevant salary structure. In all cases, ability to perform the job will be the primary consideration. No applicant or member of staff shall be discriminated against because of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, or sexual orientation.
