Join Our Growing Computing Team at Roehampton University

Computing at the University of Roehampton is one of the fastest-growing disciplines, with over 1,000 students now enrolled since its inception in 2020. We are committed to delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education, as demonstrated by our undergraduate Cyber Security programme receiving provision certification from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – one of only thirteen institutions to achieve this recognition. This marks just the beginning of our journey to establish a leading computing department focused on innovation, interdisciplinary teaching, and student success.

We are seeking passionate, student-focused academics to take on leadership roles that drive our continued success. As an Associate Professor, you will provide academic leadership in portfolio development, student experience, industry partnerships, and innovative learning and teaching. You will work within one of our core disciplines: Computer Science, Data Science, Cyber Security, or Software Engineering. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals eager to make a significant impact on the future of computing education and student outcomes.

ARE YOU:

  • An academic with a bold vision for delivering inspirational leadership across a broad range of computing disciplines?
  • Passionate about teaching, learning, and the continued development of our expanding portfolio?
  • Enthusiastic about student-centred pedagogy and lab-based learning?
  • Experienced in innovative curriculum design, pedagogy, and high-quality teaching and learning practice?
  • An expert in a relevant Computing discipline such as algorithms, machine learning, network security, software development, data analytics, or artificial intelligence?
  • A researcher with a substantial record of impactful, internationally excellent research or a professional with significant knowledge exchange experience?
  • Committed to increasing and diversifying income generation through various means?

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Lead the development of interdisciplinary programmes, equipping students with real-world experience to become industry-ready graduates.
  • Manage professional validation, accreditation, and prescription of our programmes.
  • Play a key role in delivering innovative teaching and learning for students.
  • Lead in education delivery, including programme and discipline area leadership.
  • Drive Research and Knowledge Exchange, meeting key performance indicators for excellence in high-impact research.
  • Build and maintain strong industry, public sector, and professional networks.
  • Contribute to a supportive and high-performing academic community.

Our vision for Computing is simple – to provide an outstanding educational experience through interdisciplinary lab-based teaching and learning, ensuring our graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge to thrive in industry. We foster a collaborative and supportive environment where academic and professional excellence is encouraged and celebrated.
