About the Role
We are recruiting two 30-month postdoctoral positions as part of the newly-created Queen Mary and Barts Health Tuberculosis Centre, a large and growing team of tuberculosis researchers. You will work under the supervision of Professor Graeme Meintjes or Dr Robin Basu Roy. One position will focus on investigating immunopathogenesis of paradoxical upgrading reactions (PURs) in patients being treated for tuberculosis in an observational cohort study in Barts Health TB clinics. The other position will focus on biomarkers, diagnostics, and host-directed therapies in paediatric TB, including samples from the largest ever paediatric TB meningitis randomised controlled trial (the SURE trial) and newly established paediatric observational studies in East London*. The work will involve establishing and running immunology and infection experimental assays in coordination with clinical research teams and the roles will provide opportunities for career growth.
About You
Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field (or be close to completion**) and be able to work independently and collaboratively within a team, with a strong background in cell culture and/or tuberculosis research. Familiarity with flow cytometry, in vitro infection techniques, and bio-informatic analysis is desirable.
