Leverhulme Postdoctoral Research Associate in Inorganic Chemistry

The Opportunity

This post represents an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a new project between the Cosgrove and Matthews groups in the School of Chemical and Physical Sciences at Keele University. This exciting opportunity, funded through the Leverhulme Trust, is a 3-year postdoctoral research associate which will explore the development of new continuous flow methodology towards the synthesis of inorganic 2D materials. The interdisciplinary project will involve synthesis and characterisation of novel materials and will include exploration of the properties of these materials towards novel applications. 

The project offers generous consumables and travel funding for the postholder, and opportunity to work across several different areas of research, including inorganic and materials chemistry, continuous reactor design and development, and chemical biology. There will be opportunities to work alongside two research groups and supervise research students at masters and PhD level. 

The successful candidate will have a PhD in inorganic chemistry, materials science or a related discipline. They will have a desire to learn new skills in a very ambitious project. They should have experience in inorganic synthesis, materials characterisation and preferably some knowledge of flow chemistry.

Please note that the starting salary will typically be at the bottom of the pay scale shown above.
