Join Imperial College Business School’s Department of Management and Entrepreneurship as a Department Operations Officer. In this key role, you will manage critical operational processes, provide comprehensive support to the Head of Department, and lead a professional team in delivering a corporate level of professional services.

What you would be doing:

As Department Operations Officer, you will be at the heart of the Department’s operations, playing an essential part in facilitating a positive experience for faculty members, visitors and other stakeholders of the Department. This is a varied role which requires a dynamic and flexible approach.

You will act as a trusted partner and Executive Assistant to the Head of Department and lead on Department-level initiatives. You will also manage and develop a small team of professional staff, fostering a culture of teamwork and supporting their professional growth. Additionally, you will oversee key financial and HR processes for the Department (e.g. monitoring budgets, recruitment, onboarding), ensuring these processes run effectively and are compliant.

You will take a proactive approach to enhancing support for faculty members, by using creative problem-solving skills, building relationships with key contacts, and keeping up to date with best practice. Your approach to service delivery will focus on improving the overall stakeholder experience, fostering innovation and driving continuous quality improvements.

  • Professional experience in administration, management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with HR and financial processes in a Higher Education or comparable sector

  • Exceptional organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of building relationships across diverse stakeholders.
  • An understanding of team leadership and professional development.

Further Information

This is a fulltime, open-ended role based at the South Kensington campus.

In order to support business needs, the role is required to work on campus at least 60% of the time.
