About the role
The Centre for Languages Culture and Communication at Imperial College is looking for a teacher of Korean to join our languages team. As Teaching Fellow in Korean, you will join our small team of Korean teaching staff, who work on the Horizons undergraduate courses as well as on our Adult Education Evening Class programme. The role involves teaching beginner level Korean language to undergraduate students from a scientific, technical, or medical background. Please note that this is a part time post.
What you would be doing
In this role you will be delivering in-person teaching to undergraduate students, preparing classes and lesson plans, and contributing to the development of shared teaching materials. You will be responsible for monitoring students’ progress and attendance, supporting and advising students, and consulting with administration as needed. You will assist colleagues with the design of coursework and assessment, including assessing and marking students in their summative assessments through the year, providing comprehensive and prompt feedback to students to help students thrive in their studies.
What we are looking for
We are looking for an individual with a track record of teaching Korean as a foreign language at university level. You will need an awareness of current trends in MFL / Korean as a Foreign Language, learning and teaching, familiarity with the CEFR and with different levels of attainment in UK education.
To be successful in this post, you will be able to work flexibly as part of a team in an open-minded and cooperative manner, with strong communication and organisational skills. You will also have highly effective communication skills in English and in Korean, and an ability to convey information in an engaging way. You will be experienced in the use of digital tools to support learning and assessment, especially using Blackboard Learn or other similar VLEs.
What we can offer you
The CLCC has a significant role within Imperial with our Horizons and I Explore modules now embedded within every undergraduate degree of this world leading institution. You will join a large team of teaching staff with interests across a broad range of subjects in languages, the humanities, arts, and social sciences.
As well as the extensive staff development programme offered by the University, CLCC staff, their family and friends can also make use of a generous fee discount for our adult education courses.
