This is a fixed term appointment for 2 years

The London School of Economics and Political Science is one of the foremost social science universities in the world. The Planning Division is integral in supporting and monitoring the School’s progress towards achieving its strategic objectives. The Head of Management Information (MI) plays a key role in leading the development of the institutional MI strategy including coordinating and delivering high quality reporting and analysis.

This post leads the Management Information team within the Planning Division. You will be responsible for ensuring the team produces actionable insights and analysis to inform the decision-making processes of governance committees and senior management in support of the School's plans. You will oversee the work of 11 staff working in analysis areas such as widening participation, education outcomes, student satisfaction and experience, as well as careers, contributing to areas such as School Strategy, APP, TEF and B3 Conditions of Registration.  As well oversight of analysis you will manage staff in the production of a number of statutory returns. 

Candidates should have:

  • Experience of working with users / developers to determine and satisfy the management information needs of an organisation;
  • Expert and current knowledge of data manipulation and visualisation tools and technologies and their application in delivering high calibre information;
  • Experience of leading, managing, recruiting and developing individuals and teams;
  • Excellent and credible communicator (written and verbal);

This post is fixed term for two years whilst the current Head of Management Information is seconded to the Schools Data Programme to implement a School-Wide Data Platform.  The successful candidate will work with the current post holder to ensure operational activity continues to progress during the secondment period.  This is an excellent opportunity for someone to take their first steps into management of a medium sized management information team whilst having the support of the previous role holder.
