We have a vacancy for a statistician to work on an MRC and NIHR co-funded project to determine appropriate methods of analysis for cluster randomised trials with rare outcomes. The project is motivated by a large cluster randomised trial conducted in Niger of two prophylactic regimens to control meningococcal meningitis epidemics. More details on the specific activities are in the job description.
The post-holder will have a postgraduate degree, ideally a doctoral degree, in a relevant topic and relevant experience in randomised trial analysis. Evidence of strong quantitative skills with expertise in a common statistical package such as R or Stata is essential. Experience in the evaluation or development of statistical methodologies in the context of health research, or experience of using simulation studies is desirable. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term until 31 January 2027. The post is funded by the MRC and NIHR and is available from 16 June 2025.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale Grade 6 in the range £44,847 - £50,808 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part-time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available.
