The School of Biological and Chemical Sciences in the College of Science and Engineering at the University of Galway invites applications for a Specific Purpose Contract, Lecturer type A, commencing as soon as possible. Applications are welcome from candidates with strong expertise in AgriBiosciences, Global Food Security & Climate Resilience, particularly with experience of working in partnership with international agricultural development organisations focused on smallholder farmers in developing countries, such as the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Development (CGIAR), UN Agencies and international NGOs.
The successful candidate will predominantly deliver interdisciplinary lectures and modules in the Masters degree in Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (MScCCAFS), and also provide some contributions to the Masters degree in AgriFood Sustainability and Technology, and the Plant & AgriBiosciences undergraduate degree pathway. The successful candidates teaching and research profile would contribute to the major thematic research section of the school “Sustainable World”. The post-holder will be required to deliver modules, lectures, assignments and field trips on the Masters degree in Climate Change, Agriculture and Food Security (MScCCAFS), to work as a member of the MScCCAFS Program Committee and to liaise with international partners (e.g. CGIAR, UN, iNGOs etc) who collaborate closely with the MScCCAFS program. The post-holder will also play a role in supporting the supervision of MScCCAFS and MScAST research projects, and in delivering some lectures to the MScAST program and undergraduate programmes in agribioscience.

Salary: € 62,376 to € 99,508 p.a (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011)
