The School of Advanced Study

The School is a nationally and internationally recognised centre of excellence in the promotion and facilitation of research in the Humanities and Social Sciences. It comprises eight renowned research institutes as well as centres in Digital Humanities and Public Engagement. It has four recognised specialist research libraries.

The Role

This is a very exciting time at the School of Advanced Study. The School, which plays a unique role in developing and promoting collaborative, innovative and distinctive research in the humanities, has just celebrated its 30th anniversary, as well as delivering the very first National Humanities Lecture at Senate House this February.

Its mission to train the next generation of humanities researchers, devise innovative methods for new discoveries, connect humanities researchers and provide unique humanities research infrastructure to create new knowledge and new formats for collaboration continues and is set to grow in the years ahead.

The External Communications Manager (School of Advanced Study) will play a key role in promoting the School and its unique national role across the sector as well as to the wider public. Working with colleagues across the School, and with the support of the Head of Communications and Events, you will lead the development and delivery of an external communications plan, targeted to the arts and humanities community in the UK, which seeks to demonstrate the case for humanities across agreed audiences.

You will have a passion for the humanities, and will ensure communications planning and delivery considers and supports the School’s leadership of a national advocacy plan which will target policy makers, stakeholders in other sectors, including industry and business, HE more widely (including STEM) and the wider public.
