About the role
The Department of Chemistry seeks to appoint an outstanding individual to deliver teaching in Chemistry. Applications will be accepted from individuals with expertise in any area of Chemistry, but we are particularly interested in those able to teach synthetic Chemistry beyond 1st year level.
The individual must be able to deliver lectures at 1st year level across all areas of Chemistry and at advanced level in the area of their own expertise. The successful applicant should also be able to undertake laboratory demonstrating across the breadth of Chemistry.
Sussex Chemistry delivers highly regarded undergraduate Chemistry degree programmes and is currently ranked 16th for Chemistry in the UK (Guardian University Guide 2025). We are currently in the middle of the roll out of an exciting new curriculum. The successful applicant will therefore be expected to deliver the new curriculum and to participate in the design of the new modules for this curriculum.
The post-holder will undertake a range of teaching and support duties within the Chemistry and Foundation year degree programmes including, but not restricted, to:
About you
You will be educated to PhD level and have an ability to teach in any area of Chemistry.
You will ideally have previous experience of teaching Chemistry at degree level and will be passionate about delivering high quality teaching and support to students.
