About the role
Reporting to the Head of Building Operations, the Schwarzman Centre Head of Technical and Production will be responsible for the development and delivery of the technical & production facilities of the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, a multi-purpose building combining academic departments, a major Bodleian Humanities Library and a range of performance and exhibition spaces. Located within the building are a Concert Hall, Theatre, Cinema, Black Box experimental space, Exhibition Hall, 3 Music Studios and a Rehearsal Hall. The Head of Technical & Production will be responsible for supporting these venues, and the wider building, ensuring optimal management and coordination of the facilities.
You will join at an exciting and important time for the Humanities Division as it plans for the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities. Leading up to the building’s completion in summer 2025, you will play a key role in developing the Centre’s operational aspects, especially the management of its venues and their technical offer.
About you
In addition to having significant experience of leading a technical team, the successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of technical procedures in a multi-use venue. Strong communication skills in liaising with diverse stakeholders are essential for this role, along with experience of managing and motivating a technical department in a venue which works across a range of live art forms and event activity. You will have excellent negotiation skills, experience of setting and managing budgets, and proven experience of positively influencing Health and Safety culture and compliance.
