About the Opportunity
At the University of Salford, we are proud to be at the heart of the world-leading innovations around social change and economic development that have defined Salford and Greater Manchester since the industrial revolution and transformed it into the thriving city region it is today – a place where ideas are formed that shape the world.
The Research Development Manager is an exciting opportunity to help drive forward this work. Based in the Research and Knowledge Exchange Directorate, you will provide research development guidance and support to academics in the School of Science, Engineering and Environment. This will include working closely with the Associate Dean for Research and Innovation and research institute and centre leaders to develop strategies to assist the School in reaching the ambitions for research income set out in both the University and School’s Delivery Plans.
What will the Role involve?
We are seeking someone with an excellent knowledge of the UK research funding landscape, as well as experience in delivering strategic support for funding applications. You will provide proactive support for research planning and development, including working with academics on individual long-term funding development strategies. This role will involve building relationships with academics across the School and beyond, in order to facilitate increased cross-School and interdisciplinary research agendas.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues from all areas of Research and Knowledge Exchange in support of the University’s Research and Knowledge Exchange Delivery Plan, including ambitions to grow research income and enhance performance in the REF and KEF. You will work particularly closely with the wider Research Culture, Development and Environment team to instil a positive culture within activities across research development, planning and knowledge transfer.
