Background
This is a strategic leadership role within the Department of Estates, Environment and Facilities (DEE&F), responsible for driving commercial strategy, managing high-value contracts, and developing key customer relationships. This role will oversee all commercial activities, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and compliance with regulations. The Head of Contracts and Commercial will work across the City St Georges University estate which comprises of three main campuses; Clerkenwell, Moorgate and Tooting.
This is a hybrid role with the expectation that the post holder spends at least 3 days on campus.
Responsibilities
An experienced facilities, service or property manager, you will have extensive experience of both insourced and outsourced services in large organisations. In this role you will provide commercial, contractual and technical interpretation on contract terms and conditions as the commercial lead for new and existing contracts, acting as the contract expert you will also provide advice to all staff requiring detailed contract management knowledge. You will oversee and lead negotiations of complex, high-value contracts with key University stakeholders including suppliers.
You will be responsible for Supplier Relationship and Contract Oversight of 5 high-value outsourced contracts with a combined value of £15.3m p/a. with a focus on maintaining and improving the cost-effectiveness and performance of key suppliers.
Person Specification
You will have previous experience of working in a challenging stakeholder environment; managing commercial and contractual elements of a contract change pipeline including scope definition, pricing strategy, risk evaluation and allocation, managing queries and disputes in the delivery phase.
In addition, extensive experience of in-life contract management and contract compliance is required along with proven ability to lead a technical and legal review of underperforming contracts working with external advisors and lawyers.
You will adept at developing Contract Management Plans trackers and catalogues and be comfortable with correcting underperforming contracts and developing contract management improvement plans.
