As Business Development and Commercialisation Manager you will play an important role in helping the London College of Communication Research and Knowledge Exchange department to achieve income targets and growth objectives; connecting businesses, communities and external partners with our creative expertise to deliver innovative collaborations with impact.

As a bridge between academia and the commercial sector, you will promote the college’s expertise and resources to external partners and stakeholders. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing a commercialisation pipeline for the college.
  • Promoting the college’s expertise to external partners and stakeholders, so that academic research and student IP can translate into real-world applications.
  • Securing commercial partnerships to grow the volume and value of student sponsored projects.
  • Driving revenue through grants, contracted projects and partnerships to contribute to the college’s financial sustainability.
  • Developing grant applications to support a variety of activities and projects.
  • Identifying opportunities for partnership development and new venture creation.
  • Providing entrepreneurial support to academics and line-managing a team that oversees and supports graduate start-ups.
  • Building and maintaining industry collaborations with corporations, start-ups, SMEs and investors

About you
You will need knowledge of and a demonstrable track record in sales and business development.

You will also need demonstrable understanding of the funding mechanisms and processes to support knowledge exchange activity at a university.

You will be able to plan, prioritise and manage resources to achieve objectives and KPIs, motivate and lead a team, and navigate complex policies and procedures and provide information to colleagues clearly and concisely.

The ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders, academics/founders and industry collaborators is equally important.
