Department

The Centre for Teaching and Learning supports the academic development of teaching at the University by:

  • advising on course and curriculum design
  • enabling the adoption of new technology and digital resources
  • assisting in piloting new teaching methodology.

We support effective teaching practices at Oxford, helping students and staff adopt innovative approaches. Through our Access and Participation Plan, we provide targeted academic support to underrepresented students, ensuring they feel welcome, valued, and equipped with the skills to thrive at Oxford.

The Academic Skills Development project is a collaborative venture between the Centre for Teaching and Learning, the Disability Advisory service, the Language Centre and the Student Data Insights team. The project takes a whole-university approach to developing and integrating skills provision into support services and college and departmental teaching so that all students encounter academic skills development as a normal part of their studies.
