We have an exciting opportunity to work on a collaborative project between Lichfield Cathedral and the University of Staffordshire. Lichfield Cathedral is looking to become an exemplar in decarbonisation, with wider aims to help the historic building sector rise to the challenge of climate change and make informed decisions for green investments.

This project, funded by Innovate UK and The Church Commissioners, seeks a KTP Associate to assist Lichfield Cathedral in reaching their ambition as an environmental leader through a programme of building simulation and the development of a holistic decarbonisation toolkit.

Working closely with Lichfield Cathedral and academics at the University of Staffordshire, the successful candidate will lead all aspects of the project to develop a comprehensive toolkit to inform and enable technical and financial decision-making for the decarbonisation of Lichfield Cathedral with relevance to the wider Cathedral sector and heritage building sector more generally.

A suite of methods centred around digital twinning and building simulation techniques will be developed to determine 'best available technologies' for the decarbonisation of complex and sensitive historic buildings.

The project, driven by a strong social and environmental ethos, will also examine the context in which the decarbonisation is taking place seeking to share best practice, raise awareness of climate change and minimize the social and non-technical barriers to climate change mitigation activities.
