LSE is committed to building a diverse, equitable and truly inclusive university
Salary from £35,758 to £40,741 per annum inclusive with potential to progress to £43,604 pa inclusive of London allowance
This is a fixed term appointment for 12 months initially, starting in Summer/Autumn 2025
Professors Oriana Bandiera, Clare Balboni and Robin Burgess of LSE’s Department of Economics are seeking motivated, independent, and highly skilled Pre-Doctoral Research Assistants to support ongoing research in development, environmental, labour, and applied microeconomics. We envision this role as a bridge for recent graduates, interested in developing practical research skills before applying to doctoral programmes.
The successful candidates should have a completed bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in economics or other closely related discipline, strong quantitative and data analysis skills, and be able to manage their own areas of responsibility independently without constant direct supervision. Experience in Stata is essential and experience with R and/or Python desirable. We are looking for someone with fluency in written and spoken English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills who is able to communicate effectively to different audiences, conveying complex technical information in a clear and accurate manner. This position would be suited to candidates with a long-term interest in progression to a doctoral programme and conducting research in economics.
In your application, please include a 200-word statement about what you expect to like the most and least about the position. Shortlisted applicants will be asked to complete a short technical and/or writing exercise.
We offer an occupational pension scheme, generous annual leave and excellent training and development opportunities.
