This Research Assistant post offers an exciting opportunity to play a key role in research into inherited retinal disease in a highly successful and dynamic research group.

About the role

The Research Assistant will work on a project focused on using stem cells to understand the mechanisms of light induced neurodegeneration under the supervision of Dr Rosellina Guarascio.

The position would suit an ambitious graduate with a background and interest in the mechanisms of neurodegeneration, retinal cell biology, and stem cell derived models of disease. The successful candidate would ideally have experience with molecular biology techniques, stem cell culture and/or microscopy. (S)he will work to investigate the role of light in molecular mechanisms of inherited retinal degeneration using stem cells derived 3D retinal organoids.

The position is funded by Moorfield Eye Charity and will be for 18 months.

About you

The successful applicant should have a minimum of a BSc or MSc in a relevant subject, laboratory experience, excellent communication skills and show a strong commitment to high quality research. (S)he will be interested in investigating models of disease using stem cells models.
