We are seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Tumour Immunology to join the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research within the Nuffield Department of Medicine.

You will be working with Prof. Benoit Van den Eynde to study the interaction between immune cells and tumour cells. Prof. Benoit Van den Eynde’s research group is active in the field of tumour immunology, with a focus on understanding the mechanisms of tumoural immune resistance and developing new immunotherapy approaches.

You will be responsible for conducting original research within the context of the group, analysing detailed and complex qualitative and/ or quantitative data from a variety of sources, reviewing and refining working hypotheses as appropriate. You will supervise and train junior staff in molecular biology and tumour immunology, carry out collaborative projects with colleagues in partner institutions, and research groups. You will manage your own academic research and administrative activities, this involves small scale project management, to co-ordinate multiple aspects of work to meet deadlines.

It is essential that you hold a PhD/DPhil in tumour immunology (or near completion) in life science subject. You will have experience in cancer vaccine research, molecular and cellular immunology techniques, including flow cytometry and ELISA for the evaluation of T cell and cytokine response to vaccine. You will have experience with cellular assays, such as degranulation assay, peptide stimulation and phagocytosis assay. Experience in in vivo handling and intravenous, intramuscular, intraperitoneal, intratumoral injections is essential. You will have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work flexibly and supportively as part of a team. You will be able to organise work efficiently and to manage multiple projects with competing priorities effectively, delivering high quality results.
