We are looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) to join the Biology Department within the internationally recognized York Biomedical Research Institute to work in the Hamilton lab. This post is available immediately and is funded by the Medical Research Council for 3 years.
This is a unique opportunity to develop an exceptional set of skills and contribute to groundbreaking research in an exciting and clinically relevant environment. You will also contribute towards other projects, help supervise student projects, and contribute to the smooth running of the lab as required.
Role
Our lab investigates neuroinflammatory diseases called leukodystrophies using a variety of models. The post holder will contribute to the general organisation of the lab, support the team and contribute to advance our research by analysing the contribution of the immune system to the pathology of leukodystrophy. This multi-disciplinary project is at the border of neuroscience and immunology, and focuses primarily on the role of microglia in the development of leukodystrophy pathology. The post holder will be using zebrafish and iPSC systems to create new models to gain insight into the cellular and molecular mechanisms of multiple forms of leukodystrophies.
