The Discipline of Environmental Sciences incorporates Earth Sciences, GeoEnergy, Biological Sciences and Environmental Science and Sustainability. About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and versatile Lecturer in Environmental Science to teach across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, with expertise in remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ecosystem services.
You will be teaching on the BSc Environmental Sustainability programme, with your expertise in remote sensing, GIS and ecosystem services, you will lead these modules. You will support teaching within other modules at undergraduate and master’s level across Environmental Sciences. The role will involve interactive design and delivery of module materials and authentic assessment tasks. Our curriculum is research led and has applied ‘real-world’ learning at the heart, therefore the role requires experience of research and/or industry engagement, as well as pastoral duties and outreach.
About You
We are seeking a candidate with a PhD and advanced expertise in remote sensing, GIS, and ecosystem services, capable of delivering high-quality teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in higher education, including module leadership, designing teaching materials, and planning sessions with practical elements. The ability to teach using digital tools and practical applications is vital to enhance student learning is essential.
Experience in research, enterprise activity, or industry engagement, with the ability to incorporate these insights into teaching, is highly valued.
