Applications are invited for a Research Associate to work with Professor Elizabeth Fullam based in the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology and Michael Smith Building. The position is available for 24 months and is available from the 1st March 2025. The aim of the project is to unravel how the Mycobacterium tuberculosis pathogen uses nutrients, expanding our knowledge of this global pathogen to inform next generation therapeutics and diagnostics The role involves working with microbiological agents at containment level 3, generating genetic mutants and analysing mutant phenotypes using a variety of techniques and tools. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and within a research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are required. Applicants should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in Microbiology/Biology/Biochemistry (or a related subject area) and have strong interests in unravelling the function of mycobacterial transport systems.
