About King’s:

The Dickson Poon School of Law at King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally. The School’s research interests cover all areas of public and private law and include the philosophy and sociology of law as well as doctrinal, empirical, historical, interdisciplinary, and comparative approaches to the study of law.

There is an exciting opportunity to join the new Centre for Data Futures, supported by the McGovern Foundation. The Centre Manager will play a crucial role in supporting the Centre's research, impact and operational activities, working closely with the Centre Director and the newly appointed Innovation Director.

About the role:

  1. Event Management
    • Coordinate research and impact events.
    • Manage logistical arrangements, including venue booking, catering and communications.
    • Preparing event materials and documentation.
  2. Stakeholder Support
    • Provide administrative support for stakeholder engagement activities, including organising travel and expense tracking.
    • Preparing correspondence, briefing materials and communications
    • Record keeping and data management
  3. Fundraising Assistance
    • Support fundraising through administrative tasks
    • Help prepare funding proposal documentation
    • Tracking and managing funding-related communications
  4. Data Empowerment Clinic Support
    • Work closely with the Innovation Director to establish the Data Empowerment Clinic
    • Manage administrative setup and ongoing organisational requirements
    • Coordinate clinic operations and student administration
  5. Business/financial management
    • Managing centre budgets, forecasting, budget setting and reporting.
    • Financial processing.
    • Work with faculty Business team to support appropriate resource planning and HR activities

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

About You:

Essential Criteria:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience managing business/centre operations preferably in the HE sector
  • Experience liaising effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment with competing deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience providing day-to-day business support including processing of financial information, dealing with HR matters and events & communications management
  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite and ideally other relevant IT systems for business management & communications
  • Strong numerical skills & experience with standard financial software packages, Excel and database management

Desirable:

  • Experience working in a centre or institute in the HE sector
  • Experience working in a dynamic, research-focused environment
  • Managing social media communications channels and/or website content
