Cambridge Smart Plastics Ltd (CSP) is excited to be advertising one full-time position as Researcher in our dynamic start-up. We are looking for an experienced scientist with a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Engineering (or similar work experience). Practical experience in polymer synthesis and polymer processing is required. Knowledge or experience in fields like vibration and acoustic damping is a plus.
We are looking for somebody to help develop functional ‘smart plastics’ and their applications. We are looking for support in two areas: 1) you will assist or lead the development of vibration damping elastomers, and 2) you will assist or lead the development of vitrimer polymers. This work will be done at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, in close collaboration with our CTO and academic partners.
Applications and interviews to be completed through January and February as we are looking for the ideal candidate to start after March 2025. The post will be a fixed term appointment for 12 months in the first instance, with an extension depending on funding available. The salary for this post is £32,000 - £42,000 per annum, depending on experience. Discretionary bonuses are also considered for top performance.
