This part time (0.2 FTE) post is available from August 2025 on a fixed term basis for 1 year, in the Doctoral Clinical PGR Programmes Portfolio within the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Health & Life Sciences.

This role is subject to final programme approval.

This post is very crucial for maintaining the vitality of the DForenPsy training experience and for maintaining strong collaborative process with our key partners within a national and international portfolio. The postholder will make a significant contribution to the leadership and management of the DForenPsy with particular emphasis on practice elements. You will be accountable to external Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs, including BPS, HCPC) for maintaining governance compliance and reports to the DForenPsy Programme Director. You will provide leadership and management to the DForenPsy deputising on behalf of and reporting to the DForenPsy Programme Director and provide strategic leadership (with the DForenPsy Programme Director).

Specific job Purposes:

  • Within the DClinPGR portfolio you are accountable for managing and monitoring all clinical practicum aspects of the DForenPsy training programme. 
  • Accountable for maintaining clinical placement provision to ensure that the DForenPsy Programme maintains external PSRB approvals (HCPC approval, BPS accreditation).
  • Responsible for the strategic development and maintenance of clinical placement capacity for the DForenPsy. Clinical Placement capacity is an essential requirement for the DForenPsy Programme.
  • Will have a key strategic role to ensure that International forensic psychology training placements are available to ensure the growth of International DForenPsy recruitment while maintaining essential collaborative provision with relevant partners.
  • Will line manage the Clinical Tutor Team to ensure clinical placement elements of the DForenPsy training are in place and are fit for purpose. This includes determining competences that trainees need to develop; assessing whether trainees are developing these at the required stages of training; and approving placements and training supervisors to ensure that trainees have sufficient learning opportunities and experience high quality supervision on practicum placements. 
  • Will have delegated responsibility (from DForenPsy Programme Director) for the management of the trainees including oversight of contracts of employment, annual, sickness leave and grievance and disciplinary procedures as well as placement reviews.
  • Accountable for managing and monitoring clinical placement/practice aspects of the DForenPsy and ensuring the clinical practice components of the DForenPsy programme meet all requirements of PSRBs including BPS’ accreditation criteria, HCPC regulatory framework, the University TQA manual.
  • Act as PGR / DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes Responsible Person for University Fitness to Practice matters.
  • Provide clinical practice leadership to the DForenPsy programme and contribute to the Faculty’s research/impact work as appropriate in existing areas of strength in our DClinPGR portfolio of Programmes team.

For Senior Lecturer posts you will:

  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a doctorate level training or the necessary equivalent in Forensically relevant research and practice in order to teach and support learning on Forensic Psychology modules.
  • Possess a good honours degree in Psychology or a related discipline (2:1 or equivalent)
  • Have a consistent track record of excellent teaching across a variety of modules and levels within your discipline as might be expected of a very experienced HE Teacher/ be very experienced as a Forensic Psychologist in applied settings with experience of training Forensic Psychologists.
  • Be expected to work towards Principal Fellow of the HEA and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
