Research Fellow

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is one of the world’s leading public health universities. We are seeking an early-career social scientist to support two sub-components of a project on prevention of violence against women (30%) and assist with coordinating GVHC activities (20%). The role involves collaborating with LSHTM researchers and partners in Brazil, South Africa, and Kenya. Key responsibilities include: developing research tools and submitting ethics applications, support data collection and analysis, co-author publications.

The post-holder will assist GVHC co-Directors with coordinating Centre’s activities.

The post-holder should have a postgraduate degree (preferably a PhD) in social science or a related field, experience in qualitative data collection and analysis in low-income settings, strong writing and interpersonal skills, and an interest in the prevention of violence against women.

The post is part-time 17.5 hours per week, 0.5 FTE and fixed term until 30 April 2026 with the possibility of extension. The post is funded by the Wellspring Philanthropic Fund and is available from 01 February 2025.

The salary will be on the Academic Pathway salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £44,847 - £50,508 per annum pro rata (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
