We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant or Research Fellow to work in the thriving laboratory of Professor Serge Mostowy, in collaboration with Oxford University (Matthew Fuchter) and the Francis Crick Institute (James Briscoe). The successful applicant will enable AI-based imaging of zebrafish embryo development in combination with high-content screening, and prepare manuscripts for submission to scientific journals. The work will establish a high-content / high-throughput microscopy assay in zebrafish embryos enabled by machine learning, and would suit an individual with a background in AI-based imaging platforms and computer programming.
The successful applicant will have an MSc or postgraduate degree in a relevant topic, relevant experience in AI-based imaging platforms and computer programming, as well as practical experience in a broad range of techniques that apply to microscopy including image acquisition and image analysis. The post is full-time 35 hours per week, 1.0 FTE and fixed term for 12 months from the start date, with a possibility of an extension of the contract for another 12 months, subject to funding from other projects held by the PI. The one-year post is funded by the UKRI and is available from 01 April 2025.
The salary will be on the Academic Pathway, Research Assistant salary scale, Grade 5 in the range £39,182 - £44,847 per annum or Research Fellow salary scale, Grade 6 in the range £44,847 - £50,808 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service. Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London at LSHTM.
