This part time (0.6 FTE) post is available immediately on a permanent basis and offers the opportunity for hybrid working but the successful applicant will be expected to be on-campus at least 1 day/week to be available for leadership team meetings and meetings with trainees.  We welcome applications from candidates interested in working job-sharing arrangements. 

The role

The Psychology Department at the University of Exeter seeks to appoint a Programme Director (0.6FTE) to join our team of exceptional scientists, educators, and practitioners to support the delivery of our successful Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy).

The Director will lead the DClinPsy program and will be responsible for delivering and leading on a programme of specialist clinical professional educational, including working to PSRB governance standards and requirements, ensuring practice within the Programme is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge. The Director is expected to build and maintain positive and effective relationships and partnerships both internally within the Psychology Department and externally with relevant stakeholders, commissioners, PSRBs, and local service partners.

There is a requirement to maintain professional qualifications and practice in order to carry out clinical duties.

Appointment may be to Associate Professor or Professor level depending on experience, based on Exeter Academic Role Profiles. Our criteria for Associate and full Professor in education is set out here. Please observe the education criteria.

The starting salary for the Associate Professor will be from £64,235 per annum pro rata on Grade H depending on qualifications and experience and for Professor level, the salary will be competitive, depending on qualifications and experience. This post may attract a personal value supplement, subject to further approval.

About you

For an Associate Professor/Professor post you will:

  • Have managed significant income-generating programmes;
  • Have led and managed the design and development of the overall curricula for your academic area;
  • Make a significant contribution to the leadership and management of the development of teaching and learning strategies and academic standards for the subject area of Clinical Psychology
  • Possess a depth or breadth of specialist knowledge demonstrated by a PhD/ Professional Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, of the core knowledge relating to Clinical Psychology in order to teach and support learning on Clinical Psychology modules;
  • Be recognised as an excellent teacher not only within your discipline of Clinical Psychology but nationally and have worked at a national level to champion selected aspects of disciplinary pedagogy to further education;
  • Be willing to work towards Principle Fellow status of the HEA and to attend formal CPD relating to this.
