About the Role
As a Computational Teaching Developer Systems Engineer within the ITS Research Group, your role will focus on enhancing and maintaining our educational platforms, particularly identifying enhancements that increase productivity and improve the user experience. A key part of your responsibilities will involve monitoring support tickets to identify repetitive manual tasks and then using Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to automate these processes, thereby improving efficiency. You will also collaborate closely with academic staff to understand their needs and translate them into practical, user-friendly solutions that support effective teaching and learning. Your duties will include platform development, system maintenance, automation, coding, and responsive user support. Ensuring that our platforms remain secure, scalable, and easy to use is crucial, and you will also have the opportunity to integrate advanced technologies, such as AI and machine learning, to elevate our educational offerings further.
About You
You are a skilled programmer, particularly in Python, with strong problem-solving abilities and a willingness to learn new technologies quickly. While experience with Kubernetes and educational technology platforms is beneficial, we value your ability to adapt and grow in this role. You thrive in independent and collaborative environments and are committed to continuous learning and improvement. You bring the technical expertise and adaptability to drive innovation. In that case, we encourage you to apply and join our team.

Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.
We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.
Benefits
We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, campus facilities and flexible working arrangements.
