Do you have experience of managing a team of HR administrative staff and are willing to take on the challenge of service improvement within an HR Operations Team?

We are seeking an Interim Head of HR Operations to join Birkbeck, University of London, a prestigious institution known for its commitment to diversity and excellence. This role will involve managing a dynamic team to deliver high-quality HR services across the entire employment lifecycle.

The Interim Head of HR Operations will:

  • Oversee the recruitment process and implement system improvements.
  • Directly manage the HR Operations Team Leader and ensure effective team collaboration.
  • Ensure seamless HR and Payroll integration for accurate and timely staff payments.
  • Lead compliance efforts regarding UK Visas and Immigration.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures and Service Level Agreements.
  • Maintain standards of data accuracy and security and ensure availability of staff data for statutory reporting.
  • Set performance targets and review team effectiveness.
  • Participate in HR project work and service improvement initiatives.

The ideal candidate for the Interim Head of HR Operations will have:

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in managing HR services and leading successful process improvements.
  • A proactive, flexible approach with strong decision-making abilities.
  • Planning skills aligned with the academic cycle, and a commitment to customer service.

This opportunity would build on experience as: HR Manager, HR Operations Team Manager/Leader, Deputy Head of HR Operations or Deputy HR Operations Manager.

Salary and benefits:
£43,636 rising to £49,683 per annum, Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance that applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.

Contract:
