The University of Cambridge, Finance Division are looking for a IT Technician to join our local IT function. The Finance IT team supports and advises colleagues in the Finance Division on all manner of IT issues including laptop issues, system troubleshooting, software installation and network connectivity. The Finance Division has around 280 staff spread across three main sites in Cambridge. This role, in the Finance Systems Group is based in Greenwich House. Madingley Road.

The Role

Specifically, you will be:

  • Acting as the routine contact point, receiving and handling requests for support.
  • Responding to a broad range of service requests for support by providing information to fulfil requests or enable resolution and contributes to creation of support documentation.
  • Carrying out an equipment audit on a monthly basis maintaining a database of equipment and location(s).
  • Providing assistance to users following agreed procedures for further help or escalation.

Your Skills

  • The position is forward facing, excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are essential along with a pro-active work ethic.
  • Developing knowledge of one technical specialism within one IT domain e.g. Desktop Support within the IT domain of infrastructure.
  • The ability to develop and maintain their own knowledge in their field.

Location

The University is supportive of hybrid working, where some work is undertaken on University premises and some in a remote working environment. There is a requirement to be in the office four days a week. This arrangement is subject to change and will not form a part of the contractual terms of the role. 

Funding for this post is available for 2 years.
