Senior Researcher in Structural Digitalization and Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of Composite Structures

The position will strengthen the department’s research in structural digitization and nondestructive testing (NDT) of wind turbine structural components, such as composite wind turbine blades. 

Responsibilities and qualifications

You are expected to work on the following topics: 

• Develop the key enabling technologies to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of structural digital representation focusing on structural damage and failure assessment
• Use NDT equipment to characterize damage state in composite materials and structures
• Development of NDT procedures to be used at various test set-ups in laboratories
• Writing papers for international scientific journals
• Development of numerical tools to create research impact on the wind energy industry
• Development of research projects, writing project applications to acquire external funding
• Teach and supervise MSc students and thesis projects
• Supervise/co-supervise PhD-students
• Guide and supervise assistant professors and researchers
• Innovation and collaboration with industry 

Preference will be given to applicants that can document:

• Successful funding acquisition and project management ·  
• Publications in the field of NDT of composite materials and/or structures ·    
• Experience in the use of one or more NDT techniques, e.g., thermography, ultrasound scanning, acoustic emission, and X-ray tomography. · 
• Experience in leadership in the research context ·     
• Experience in experimental work such as using sensor technologies ·  
• Experience in state-of-the-art digital technologies such as machine learning ·    
• Ability to work with other researchers, engineers, and technicians

You must be responsible for the teaching of courses. DTU employs two working languages: Danish and English. You are expected to be fluent in at least one of these languages, and in time are expected to master both. 

As a formal qualification you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) as well as academic qualifications equivalent to those obtained by holding a position as a researcher or postdoc. To be appointed as a senior researcher, you must have completed a didactic/pedagogic education. If you do not have the necessary education, then it is possible to complete this requirement within a period of two years of appointment.
