Nazarene Theological College invites applications for a full-time faculty post effective July 1st, 2025. We are searching for one full-time lecturer or senior lecturer. This role combines teaching and research (60-70%) with oversight of teaching and learning excellence, development, and support (30-40%). Preference will be given to applicants who are specialists in the areas of Wesleyan Theology and Practice and/or Pentecostal-holiness studies. However, the College is open to appointing someone with expertise in Pastoral Theology, Church History, Global Missiology/Global Christianities, or Leadership. Applicants need to be in harmony with Wesleyan-holiness Arminian theology and willing to work within the wide framework of holiness, pentecostal, and evangelical traditions. 

The successful candidate will join a collegial team of research active core faculty; will hold a PhD degree or be close to completion; will give evidence of having an active research profile and/or agenda; and will be able to take on a range of teaching and supervisory responsibilities, including undergraduate teaching (cross-disciplinary), MA teaching, and PhD supervision. The successful applicant will join an academic administration team and will have knowledge of and experience in the HE sector in the United Kingdom. The faculty member overseeing teaching and learning will lead efforts to enhance educational quality, develop innovative teaching and assessment practices, strengthen library and student support services, and ensure compliance with University policies and monitoring processes.

The current salary range is £26,858-£33,958, depending on experience and qualifications. If the role holder has competencies that accrue additional responsibilities the salary reflects that. The preferred start date for the post is July 2025 but a request for an alternative start would be considered. This post is not designed for remote working. The First interviews (video-conferenced) will be in mid-February,2025.  Candidate(s) who are selected for the final shortlist may be requested to attend an on-site interview process (including a presentation), with times to be arranged. All appointments are subject to approval by the NTC Board of Governors, and to satisfactory references. The appointment is with the expectation of permanency but will be subject to a probationary period.  

Main Responsibilities of the Post

  1. Participation in the community life of the College.
  2. Undergraduate and MA Teaching (In person, dual-delivered, and online).
  3. Supervision of doctoral students (in area of specialisation).
  4. Teaching and learning oversight: lead efforts to enhance faculty development and educational quality by innovating teaching and assessment practices, strengthening library and student support services, and ensuring compliance with university policies and monitoring processes.
  5. Maintain an active research and publishing profile.
  6. Pastoral care, mentoring and formation of students.
