Job description
An exciting opportunity to join us as Head of UK Student Recruitment and Outreach (UKSRO) You will hold overall responsibility for the UK student recruitment and access and participation functions at the University, ensuring that the resources available in these two business critical areas are fully co-ordinated and work in tandem to deliver excellent support for and engagement opportunities to schools, applicants and preapplicants. (This is a 15 month, Fixed Term Contract, covering maternity leave from January 2025 – May 2026)
About the role
You will be a strategic leader who will drive our recruitment and outreach efforts, aligning them with the University’s objectives. This critical role involves long-term planning, overseeing widening participation and student success initiatives, and implementing innovative systems and CRM solutions to enhance recruitment strategies and deliver exceptional service. You will lead teams to achieve undergraduate and postgraduate recruitment targets, champion inclusivity, and manage programmes that engage schools, colleges, and current students. With a focus on data-driven improvements, you will collaborate across the University and external networks to solve complex challenges, provide senior-level insights, and develop impactful partnerships.
About you
You will be a highly motivated and experienced leader with a degree or equivalent qualification to drive our higher education recruitment and outreach/access activities. You will have a proven track record of leading high-performing teams to achieve targets and deliver outstanding customer service, supported by strong organisational, analytical, and IT skills, including experience with CRM systems and social media. Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, alongside a commitment to encouraging young people to aspire to higher education, are essential. If you thrive under pressure, excel at managing budgets, and are passionate about delivering sector-leading user experiences.

This is a 15 month, fixed term contract, covering maternity leave from January 2025 to May 2026
The nature of the role means that some evening and weekend working will be required. The arrangement of working hours will be agreed in advance with the relevant line manager.
The post holder will be required to carry boxes of prospectuses and recruitment materials.
