Lecturer

The Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub is established with the support of NHS England and in collaboration with our regional NHS Integrated Care Boards as a centre of excellence in health and care-related research and workforce development. It is an exciting, state of the art, research facility in a clinical setting, which will help transform health, wellbeing and care in the region and strengthen our connection with the community and our sector partners.

A range of community-facing services, student placement opportunities, workforce development, training and research will be offered in a variety of settings through the Hub, both on the Campus and in the community.

We are looking to recruit a Lectuer in Adult Nursing, with a wide range of clinical expertise to join the multidisciplinary team working within the new, innovative Health, Wellbeing and Care Hub (HWCH) at the University of Essex. The successful candidate will work with our service-users with neurological conditions, frailty, learning disability and a variety other long-term health conditions.  They will also have the opportunity to develop wellbeing clinics in the HWCH in line with integrated care system priorities, such as health checks, health coaching and women’s health.  They will  offer clinical supervision as per NMC standards and contribute to the assessment of students on clinical placement within the hub, including adult and mental health nursing students and wider MDT professions, developing the future workforce through creative and innovative opportunities. 

The job role will provide experience in working with a range of clinical presentations, including complex neurological conditions as well as offering regular CPD opportunities and personal development with a focus on wider workforce development and clinical research.

The post-holder will provide a crucial role in designing and implementing the clinical services in the HWCH and local community outreach, provide clinical teaching, and clinical supervision to students working in the Hub, with a specific focus on health and wellbeing.

They will design care packages and will assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatments, and work closely with other disciplines in devising joint-working programmes for individuals and groups.

They will liaise with local NHS partners, voluntary and private agencies and a variety of other external partners.

They will lead on providing high quality clinical education and supervision to nursing students on placement in the HWCH, working closely with the nursing school to offer innovative and integrated practice opportunties.

This post is fixed term until 31 July 2026 and the working hours are 18 hours per week (0.5FTE).

Qualifications required

The successful candidate will have professional experience or practice equivalent to relevant doctoral level research degree or have or be close to completion of PhD.

You will also possess Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy or the ability to gain professional recognition at this or a higher level if appropriate. A NMC registration as a Nurse is also essential for this post.
