We are currently recruiting for qualified Nursery Chef Manager to join our friendly and diverse team at the Day Nursery.
Our Nursery is set in the peaceful surroundings of Wivenhoe Park on our Colchester Campus and offers high quality day care to children from 3 months to 5 years. We serve the local community, University staff and students.
Duties of the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and passionate Chef Manager to head up our Nursery provision.
You will be leading and working closely with the Nursery Manager and Catering Development Chef, ensuring the day-to-day smooth running of the nursery kitchen. The successful candidate will ensure the department prepares fresh and inspiring menus on a daily basis ensuring allergy and dietary requirements are always included and will ensure customer satisfaction through exceptional food quality, utilising local fresh produce, recognising the importance of our multicultural community. You will be adept in food safety and kitchen compliance and an ambassador for healthy and sustainable catering with the Nursery children, parents and staff.
The hours of work are 38 hours per week, operational time is Monday – Friday between 7am and 6pm
Skills and qualifications
We are looking for candidates that are passionate about cooking healthy and nutritious meals in an early years setting and value the benefits of a well-balanced diet for young children.
You will have experience in catering training leading to a culinary qualification or similar. Sound knowledge of allergen and dietary requirement is essential.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role and will possess good communications skills in order to form relationships with children, parents and staff alike. They will be knowledgeable and confident in managing and implementing Food Safety and follow H&S policy and compliance. Ideally, you will have experience in a nursery setting although this is not essential.
