Background
The role is based within the Office for Institutional Equity and Inclusion (OIEI). Led by the Assistant Vice-President (EDI) who reports to the President, and the Head of EDI, the OIEI works to actively and passionately transform organisational culture and support the progression and success of staff and students. The OIEI acts as a catalyst for inclusive excellence and culture change, working across the University to foster an inclusive, fair and respectful environment for the whole community.
Responsibilities
You will help create positive, tangible culture change and raise the profile of institutional-level race and gender activity, ensuring equity and inclusion for staff and students. The role holder will be responsible for ensuring the implementation of associated action plans, with consideration of all protected characteristics, to ensure intersectionality is embedded within outcomes and deliverables. The role involves direct line management of OIEI team members.
Person Specification
You will have experience of:
- Working in the equality, diversity and inclusion field with a particular focus on race equality in Higher Education or other large, complex organisation.
- Experience of successfully delivering a Charter Mark or similar accreditation (e.g., Race Equality Charter, Athena SWAN, Stonewall or Investors in People (IIP) resulting in successful award).
- Proven line management skills.
