Applications are invited for an appointment as Senior Technical Officer (STO), Permanent, 1 FTE at University of Galway. Please note that the primary place of work for this post is Mace Head, Connemara. The Senior Technical Officer reports to the Chief Technical Officer of the Ryan Institute, however, from an operating perspective, they perform their duties under the direction of the Director of CCAPS or their nominee.

The Senior Technical Officer is responsible for providing on-site technical support for Mace Head Operations, as well as other atmospheric observational sites, associated with the Ryan Institute. As such, the primary place of work for this post is Mace Head, Connemara (this is subject to the needs of the university and the person should be available to attend work at main campus if/when required). The post-holder will ensure the provision of quality controlled operational data streams to relevant national and international databases and provide technical, operational and health and safety support to principal investigators, researchers, and students.

The post-holder is responsible for ensuring effective operation of the Mace Head Atmospheric Research Station and other atmospheric observational sites associated with the Ryan Institute, in compliance with University’s policies and procedures and best practice.

Salary: €59,062 to €71,014 (applicable to new entrants effective from January, 2011) and in accordance with the terms and conditions of the University’s Remuneration policy.QA321-Updated-PP-Remuneration.pdf  (This appointment will be made on the Senior Technical Officer scale in line with current Government pay policy)
